The mental process is relatively simple, yet complex at the same time. A situation unfolds, your thoughts begin, emotions follow and then it's up to you how you react or act upon them. Your behavior then has a positive or negative effect on said situation.
Thoughts influence our emotions immensely! You ever hear a song that brings back a fond memory? Nice, isn't it? OR.... you see someone in public who has hurt you in the past, then how do you feel? Not such great emotion there, huh? How we interpret certain situations, our personal perspectives and our attitudes form the thoughts that influence those emotions.
So, how can we deal with the bad thoughts and emotions to grow and move forward? Healing, emotional maturity and time. If we can better control our thoughts, our emotions will likely be less negative and more neutral or positive. Then our actions will reflect this, creating much less chaos or behavior we may regret later.
Humans are naturally emotional creatures. And if you know me, you know that I am! Emotions can sometimes be determined by things happening in our lives, how our morning started, the tone someone took with us earlier, or other mental health struggles. If you have been in a slump and nothing seems to be helping, it may be time to talk to someone. A friend, a loved one, a therapist or other professional. Take care of yourself and check in on those you love!
Make it a great day!
